SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD’S MENTAL HEALTH
A Workshop for Parents of Tweens & Teens

with Support from the Tuckahoe PTA

This unique workshop aims to help parents get more comfortable helping their tween or teen on their mental health journey, as well as providing them with a platform to discuss their own parenting-related mental health challenges.

Workshop Objectives:
✓ Parents will be able to identify signs of mental health challenges in their teen or tween
✓ Parents will feel more comfortable talking with their teen or tween about mental health and be able to connect them to appropriate resources
✓ Parents will know where local mental health resources are located and feel comfortable accessing them if needed.

• The curriculum your children will experience during the student assembly the JCK Foundation provides during the school day on October 21st
• The commonality of mental health challenges, risk factors, and warning signs
• A lived story from a parent who raised a child diagnosed with a mental illness

You will learn about:
• Strategies on how to have conversations with your teen or tween about mental health and prompts for starting conversations.
• A teenager’s perspective on parent guilt
• New conversation prompts around mental health that you can have with fellow parents
